How to edit product templates

When editing your product pages in the theme customizer, these edits will apply to all product pages that use the same product template. In order to display unique content on separate product pages, you'll need to add new product templates that will display content that will be unique to that template. See below "How to create new product templates" to learn how to add product templates. 

Editing your product pages is another powerful and effective feature of Solodrop. To edit your product page's content, you'll need to navigate to the theme customizer first. 

1. Navigate to a product template by clicking on the top center dropdown in the customizer.
2. Click on the product template that you'd like to customize. If you haven't created any new templates yet, you'll only see the "Default" product template option. Once you arrive to a product page within the customizer, you'll see a few options on the left sidebar, namely Product Details, Product Overview, and Add section. 
   
3. The Product Details section will allow you to control all of the content within the product form area. This is the upper section on the product page. Clicking on this section will reveal a list of settings available to edit this content. 
   

   

4. The Product Overview section displays the product's description that pulls from the Shopify product. Adding a "Details Block" will display a featured list item. 
   

   

5. The Add Section option will allow you to select from a list of all sections available on the theme. Clicking on one of these sections will add it to your product page below the Product Overview section.  

How to create new product templates 

Creating new product templates is an essential step when editing product pages with unique content.

1. Within the customizer, click on the top center dropdown and select "Products". Then, click Create Template.
   

   

2. From here, you'll need to name your new product template. You can also select a base template when creating a new template. This will copy over the content used from the old template to the new template.

3. Assign your new template to the desired products. 

How to assign templates to products

After creating new product templates, you'll need to make sure that these templates are assigned to a product in order for them to be visible.

1. Visit your product within the Shopify admin. You can do this by going to the Products tab in Shopify and then selecting a product. 
2. Once on the product admin page, scroll down to the "Online Store" section that says Theme Template. From here, you can select any templates that are able to be applied to your product. 
   
   Important: your theme must be published in order to have access to a product template. If you're making product templates on a non-published theme, they will not show up in this list below.
